Tim Somrah
CISO
Major League Soccer
Tim Somrah is the Chief Information Security Officer at Major League Soccer, where he guides the League’s cybersecurity strategy, enterprise risk posture, and security governance across a sports enterprise increasingly defined by technology, data, and trust. Since joining MLS in 2019, he has helped advance the League’s information security program, strengthening protections for the League Office, clubs, venues, digital fan experiences, enterprise platforms, third-party partners, and sensitive league data. His work reflects the modern evolution of professional sports, where competition on the field is matched by the need for resilience, discipline, and confidence across the digital systems that power the game.
Tim works closely with executive leadership, technology, legal, finance, human resources, business teams, club leaders, broadcast partners, sponsors, and vendors to ensure cybersecurity serves not only as a defensive function but as a foundation for growth. His leadership brings together the essential responsibilities of the modern CISO, which include cyber strategy, enterprise risk management, security governance, technology resilience, third-party assurance, incident readiness, and emerging technology oversight. As artificial intelligence introduces both promise and uncertainty, Tim brings a practical and measured perspective grounded in responsible adoption, trusted data foundations, sound identity governance, operational resilience, and preparation for the next generation of cyber risk.
