Dave McGinnis is a Vice President & Senior Partner at IBM, responsible for the Global Cyber Threat Management business and delivery operations. With over 25 years in cybersecurity, Mr. McGinnis directs IBM's consulting and managed services practice and is a recognized leader in the application of artificial intelligence to security operations — spanning autonomous threat detection, AI-driven investigation and response, and multi-agent system architecture at enterprise scale. He works directly with CISOs, CTOs, and boards on how emerging AI capabilities are reshaping both the threat landscape and the organizations built to defend against it.

Prior to his current role, Mr. McGinnis held several executive positions across IBM's Consulting & Systems Integration and Managed Security Services businesses. He has built multiple successful cybersecurity practices and led a global network of Security Operations Centers protecting hundreds of clients and processing trillions of security events daily.

Mr. McGinnis holds multiple cybersecurity technology patents and is a founding pioneer of the managed security services market. Beginning in the mid-1990s, he designed some of the earliest customer-premise managed security offerings — spanning Firewall, Vulnerability Scanning, and Intrusion Detection — foundational constructs that remain embedded in how every major provider delivers security today.
